The 2012 Subaru Impreza: The Most Fuel Efficient All-wheel Drive Vehicle in America!

On paper, the all-new 2012 Subaru Impreza looked so impressive that I ordered one for myself over a month ago. Now that I have actually driven the car, I am simply amazed. The all-new 2012 Subaru Impreza is going to redefine the compact car segment. Like all Subaru models, Symmetrical All-wheel Drive is standard equipment. Boasting 36MPG hwy, it is now the Most Fuel Efficient All-wheel Drive Vehicle in America. After side-by-side comparisons with the 2012 Honda Civic, 2012 Mazda 3, and the 2012 VW Jetta, the 2012 Subaru Impreza is clearly a superior vehicle in every category. The Impreza dominated the competition on the race track, on the skid pad, during ice driving, G-force tests, accident avoidance maneuvers and in panic braking distance test in both wet and dry conditions.

The 2012 Impreza now has more cargo volume, more leg room and better fuel economy than the previous generation. The new Impreza will still be available as a 4-door sedan or a 5-door model in base, Premium and Limited trim packages. The Limited package is new to the Impreza model line. It features heated leather seats and Subaru's all-weather package. The 5-door Impreza "Sport" model will be replacing the outgoing "Outback Sport" and will be available in both Premium and Limited packages. The "Sport" model features raised roof rails, gun-metal alloy wheels and select colors will be available in two-tone paint schemes. Three different audio systems are available across the Impreza model line, including a 4.3" display type system with HD radio, USB, iPod/iPhone controls, BlueTooth with steering wheel controls and an MP3/WMA CD-player with text display. An optional navigation system featuring XM radio, HD radio, SD card slot, USB port, iPod/iPhone controls, BlueTooth with steering wheel controls, SMS text capabilty etc. is also available.

Symmetrical All-wheel Drive, 4-wheel disc brakes, Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC), 7 Airbags, 16-valve dual overhead cam Horizontally-opposed two-liter engine with Dual Active Valve Control and Sequential multi-point fuel injection are all standard equipment on every model. The standard equipment list is simply unheard of in a vehicle at this price point.

Having fun high in the mountains!

Jamie and I just returned from a backpacking trip to Colorado. We spent a week hiking and camping in Rocky Mountain National Park and the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area. We drove our 2010 Outback Limited across Old Fall River Road (12318' pictured below) and drove it to well over 14000" on the highest road in the United States (Mt. Evans). Round trip from Fayetteville, we traveled 2,377 miles total and averaged 29.7MPG. There were times driving across Kansas when our mileage was over 33MPG. It was a great trip and the safety and comfort of our Subaru made it even better. We had more than enough space for all of our gear, and the Earth gripping Symmetrical All-wheel Drive took us everywhere we needed to go, and a few places we didn't!

Hap "8sec" Hall ended up getting a very tame sheep. His momma was happy about this, but daddy thought Hap had a chance of winning the 6 foot trophy at the end of the rodeo. Hap "8 second" Hall held through daddy pinching the sheep to get it to run, a push from the clown and a couple of "cowboy, you can now dismount" shouts from the announcer.

My brother borrowed my Subaru Tribeca to take my son and his two kids to Rick's Bakery for an afternoon treat. At first he thought we should take two cars for comfort. But I assured him that all 3 car seats would fit in the back of the Tribeca... and low and behold they did! We have a variety of Britax car seats, that are all very large, and we had no problems fitting the kids and two adults in the car. We didn't even have to sacrifice any of our leg space!

Just north of washington regional hospital, you can find Arkansas' longest pedestrian tunnel. It travels over 600 feet and goes underneath highway 71B. Today was the opening of the trail - it follows skull creek from maple street by the University to Old Missouri by Paradise Valley CC.
